25 Feb IGNITE
The 15th and 16th February 2019 was a big weekend for the Greater Sydney Conference. They hosted the biannual combined worship experience for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sydney. Men of Hope were invited to sing a specific song, “No More Night”.In the lead up to the event, there were pressure laden practices. The men had made furious attempts to all be in attendance. Some sadly could not attend, being Friday evening, considering long distance travel and the attempt to get off work early. We all made our way to the the Sydney Olympic Park competing with the usual Sydney peak hour traffic. Once insideExhibition Hall 5, opposite the Quodos Arena, we needed to complete a sound check. The nerves started working overtime as we heard the booming speakers, took in the dimmed house lights and sang in faith, trusting the professionalism of the sound operators. They did their job well and we could now only leave our result in the hands of The Holy Spirit.
We need not have worried because there was some 400 staff recruited to make this weekend a success. With all the meticulous planning, the sub committees, the distilling for the best ideas to be implemented, the consulting with experts and the more experienced, we watched the team co-operate and bounce last minute fine tuning off each other. The whole weekend event was to be live streamed. Anyone could be impacted. And then I realized that in some ways we had the easier job to do. Then the clock ticked and at the precise minute planned, it seemed, MOH took to the stage, to remind the congregation, that one day soon, there would be… “No more night, no more pain, no more tears, no more crying again. Evil is banished…we will live in the light of the Risen Lamb”.
