21 Feb Liz Dunstan (Accompanist)
I’m obviously the only woman among so many men, and bring a balance to the group. I am the accompanist and help with selections and arrangements. A graduate of Avondale College’s music scene under Alan Thrift, I have spent my life producing music in churches and spiritual events, so playing for Men of Hope comes easy. I came into the group by a chance association, as I had no knowledge of the group until the day I joined. In the years since, playing for them, visiting churches making music with my friends, has done more for me than I for them, I feel. I see people being brought closer to God through our musical associations both singers and audiences, many of whom I would otherwise have never met and know that Men of Hope is doing just what its name tells. With Men of Hope comes a life-enriching closeness that gives strength and power to our spiritual lives. And meeting each week for practice, which at the week’s end means I am always tired, refills my emotional and spiritual tank through the fun and camaraderie we enjoy.
