Curry night fundraiser 14 Sept 2019
Men of Hope are generally engaged in two types of activity, leading or assisting in local church worship and supporting evangelism. Worship happens once monthly while evangelism support involves a larger project, annually and usually in an overseas location.
On 14 September 2019, Men of Hope held a Curry night to raise funds for the Norfolk Island mission trip starting on the 20th September 2019. The event was held at Castle Hill SDA church hall, with approx. 250 people in attendance. There was fabulous music, a light jazz duet, “Elvis”, a duet from Launceston, soloist with keyboard and MOH and MOHQ. The feature, curries of all flavours, and desserts were largely cooked by the Men of Hope. Then there were donations and pledges. The final amount raised is still rising but has already reached $5,800. All the money raised from the event will go directly to the specific projects, and none of it will be used to offset men of hope costs. As a self-funded ministry, men of hope members pay for their travel costs including flights, food and accommodation. A big thank you to everyone who contributed. Now we can do much more because you’ve given a hand.
The major goals of our up-coming trip to Norfolk Island are to support an interdenominational Christian youth pastor’s salary for one year, .and to support the Sunshine Club, a local version of ADRA, which assists the community in time of crisis, natural disaster.
